Frequently asked questions about Hammonds, our store, our products and more.
From January through October, we normally ship orders within 1 to 2 business days. During November and December, it can take up to 1-3 weeks for orders to ship. Please note that special request orders can take longer to ship.
We suggest placing Christmas orders early. Due to the high volume of orders, it can take up to 2 to 3 weeks to ship orders placed during December. Orders placed by November 30th can be scheduled to ship at a later date. Please contact us to make those arrangements.
We do not offer returns on food items. However, we will refund or replace anything that is not right. Please contact us to discuss any questions, issue or concerns.
We do not have the accommodations to offer guided tours of our bakery. There are windows along our building where you can look into the room where we hand-twist our pretzels. When you are in our bakery store, you can see the pretzels rolling out of the oven, watch them being packaged, and purchase them warm!
We are open from 7am to 5pm M-F and 8am to 12pm Sat. We hand twist our pretzels from 7am to 3:30pm M-F and most Saturdays during November and December.
We sell our pretzels whole or broken in cans, boxes, plastic tubs, or by the pound. We also offer our Zesty Dipping Mustard, Seasoned Pretzel Pieces, Chocolate Covered Pretzels, Pretzel Merchandise, and other local company’s products including potato chips, popcorn, pickles, and cheeses.
Our pretzels are not certified kosher. Our ingredients are: Flour, Water, Malt, Salt, Yeast, and Sodium Carbonate.
Our full nutritional panel can be found under each product item. Please note that the sodium amount shown is based on an average Regular Salted Pretzel.
We ship our Chocolate items by custom order. Please call us at 717-392-7532 for information and to place an order.
We do not have a large enough supply of our broken pretzels to be able to offer them for shipping. We ship either individually wrapped pretzels in cans and boxes or bulk boxes of loose whole pretzels. Our bulk boxes are filled with whole pretzels that are not individually wrapped, but the pretzels do break during shipping.
We began in 1931 and are currently owned and operated by the 5th generation of the Hammond family. We operate out of the original location still making all of our pretzels by hand.
No, we make sourdough hand-made hard pretzels. Because of our recipe and gentle treatment of our dough, our pretzels have a much lighter and crispier texture compared to machine-made pretzels.
We bake our pretzels in an oven for about 10 minutes at a high temperature to create the crust and color on the outside. The pretzels then go into a second oven for about 45 minutes at a lower temperature to slowly dry the moisture from the inside of the pretzel.
We do not make gluten-free pretzels. For a number of reasons, we leave that up to the experts!
